Research Activities
Sarah was awarded a PhD in 2007 from The University of Melbourne. Sarah's PhD studies, undertaken at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Bio21 Institute and in collaboration with the Department of Microbiology focused on elucidating the evolution of the structure and function of transthyretin-like proteins. In particular, Sarah's research focused on the function of this protein in Salmonella typhimurium. Following her PhD and prior to joining Freehills in 2011, Sarah worked for three years as a postdoctoral research officer at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute.Techniques/Expertise
As a Patent Attorney at FPA Patent Attorneys, Sarah specialises in patent matters for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Sarah’s current practice involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications, preparation of evidence in opposition proceedings, as well as providing infringement and freedom to operate advice to clients.Sarah has particular expertise in patents relating to the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, inflammatory disorders and disorders of the cardiovascular system, including the use of antibody technology, live vaccines, RNA interference and small molecule pharmaceuticals.
